Hollywood's Movie Reviews

The American

The American

If you’ve seen the trailers for this movie you probably have the impression that The American is a fast paced action picture. The previews make George Clooney’s character, Jack; seem like an American version of James Bond. Nothing could be further from the truth. This movie has very little action and moves at the pace of a glacier.

Takers

Takers

Takers is the action movie that women have been waiting for. It has plenty of action, gunplay and explosions (what us men go to the theater for) but it’s all done by a cast of male eye candy in the form of Idris Elba, Paul Walker, Michael Ealy, Chris Brown and T.I. Harris.

Lottery Ticket

The movie is jam packed with all of the obligatory “ghetto characters” we’ve come to expect from “urban comedies”.

The Other Guys

The Other Guys

The Other Guys is a knock-off version of a real “buddy cop” movie. Take Bad Boys or Lethal Weapon and replace Marcus and Mike Lowery or Riggs and Murtaugh with two idiots and, bang, you’ve got “The Other Guys”.

Dinner for Schmucks

Dinner for Schmucks

Dinner for Schmucks is not for everyone’s taste. It’s a special kind of humor and not everyone will get.

Movie Review-SALT

Movie Review-SALT

Who is SALT? (That’s the tagline for this espionage thriller.) We don’t know who Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is for the entire movie and that’s a good thing.

Twilight Eclipse

Twilight Eclipse

No one really needs a review of The Twilight Saga. The faithful hordes of fans who make up either “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob” are already making their plans for a pilgrimage to the local Cineplex for this latest installment of The Twilight series.

Grown Ups

Grown Ups

Grown Ups stars an all star cast of today’s biggest comic actors. Adam Sandler, Kevin James, and Chris Rock...

Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex

Jonah Hex is a guy movie. It’s not as gory as it could have been; considering all of the murdering that goes on in the film.

Movie Review-The Karate Kid

Movie Review-The Karate Kid

The new Karate Kid is not really a re-make of the original ’84 movie (with the then 26 year old Ralph Macchio) it’s more of a re-telling of the story.

Splice

Splice

Adrien Brody movies, typically, are really good or really bad.

Sex and the City 2

Sex and the City 2

My take on this whole Sex and the City phenomenon is the series is like Star Wars for geeks to single women and gay men.

Shrek The Final Chapter

Shrek The Final Chapter

In Shrek The Final Chapter we find Shrek longing for the good old days when he was the master of his swamp and feared by the local villagers.

Iron Man 2

Iron Man 2

In Iron Man 2 Stark is embracing his inner Iron Man and battling The U.S. Senate at the same time.

The Back-Up Plan

The Back-Up Plan

The Back-Up Plan takes the standard “boy meets girl” movie formula and changes the order around for some very funny results.
