Wyclef Jean Considering a Run for President of Haiti

Wyclef Jean has been tirelessly devoted to his native Haiti, especially after it was struck by a devastating earthquake earlier this year. His work in the country could eventually evolve into a run for the presidency there later this year. Addressing rumors that he will launch a presidential campaign in Haiti, Wyclef tells CNN he’s completed the required paperwork to do so, but hasn’t made a decision yet. However, he did say, “I can’t sing forever.”

Wyclef’s Yele Haiti foundation released a statement to multiple media outlets that read in part, “At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president. If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately.”
